Thousands of people living in Alaska are about to receive a helpful money boost. The $1,702 stimulus payment is part of Alaska’s well-known
Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)
program.
This program has been around since the early 1980s and shares part of the state’s oil income with its residents. It’s a unique system in the United States and is considered a major support system for Alaskan families.
Every year, Alaska gives this payment to eligible residents, helping them with daily expenses and giving a lift to the local economy. Nearly 600,000 people receive it each year. The 2025 payment is set at $1,702, combining both the annual dividend and an energy relief bonus.
When Will the $1,702 Payment Be Sent?
The
Alaska Department of Revenue
has announced two payment dates:
July 17, 2025 –
For residents whose 2024 or earlier PFD applications were in “Eligible – Not Paid” status by July 9, 2025.
August 21, 2025 –
For residents who become eligible between July 10 and August 13, 2025.
Payments will be sent either by direct deposit (which is faster) or by paper check, depending on the option chosen during application.
What Are the Requirements to Get the July 2025 Payment?
To receive the $1,702 deposit in July 2025, residents must meet all the below conditions. These rules help make sure only people with a strong connection to Alaska receive the money.
You must have lived in Alaska for all of 2023. That means you should not have moved out or lived in another state during that year. Your physical presence in Alaska should be continuous.
You cannot have claimed residency in another U.S. state or any foreign country after December 31, 2023. You also cannot receive financial benefits from another place during that time.
You must not have had any felony convictions in the past year. Also, you should not have spent time in prison for any crimes in the last year. If you were involved in any legal trouble, you may not qualify.
You cannot be away from Alaska for more than 180 days in 2023. There are some approved reasons (like military service, college, or medical treatment), but for most people, long absences mean losing eligibility.
To qualify for the July payment, your PFD application must have been submitted during the regular window (usually between January 1 and March 31, 2025). Late applications are generally not accepted.
How Much Will You Receive?
The $1,702 amount for 2025 includes:
A base
dividend of $1,440, which is the regular share from Alaska’s oil earnings.
An energy
relief payment of $262, added due to rising energy prices and inflation.
This is more than last year’s amount and can offer big support, especially for families facing higher living costs.
