Boston Police respond to threatening ‘anti-Jewish’ flyers: ‘Deeply troubling’

Following the distribution of anti-Jewish fliers including staff members’ personal information throughout the city, Israeli Consulate employees are on high alert.

After responding to a report of a threat at a Jewish establishment in Brighton this week, Boston Police are currently conducting an investigation.

According to a Boston Police report, a letter with a threatening anti-Jewish message was sent to the Jewish institution. The civil rights unit of the BPD has been notified.

These extremely alarming flyers coincide with an increase in anti-Israel violence, such as the recent shooting deaths of two Israeli embassy employees in Washington, D.C.

The situation involving the posters, which include the names and personal information of Consulate staff, is being closely watched by the Israeli Consulate General in New England.

According to Consul General Benjamin Sharoni, bullying, intimidation, and a call to hostile action occur when someone knocks on your door, hangs posters featuring your picture and personal details, and tries to organize others to make your surroundings unfriendly.

Local law enforcement agencies were promptly informed of the occurrence by the Consulate.

The Consulate said in a statement that it has complete faith in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ and the City of Boston’s law enforcement agencies. We have no doubt that every possible measure will be taken to protect our staff, our activities, and other diplomatic missions that are present in the City.

The Consulate further stated that any attempt to intimidate or interfere with our work will be handled with hard resolve and our unwavering commitment to keeping up our service and advancing the bilateral connection between Israel and this region.
