Los Angeles (AP) ESPN announced on Tuesday that Shane Gills will host the ESPYS, the network’s annual awards presentation.
The ceremony, which will be televised live on ESPN, will take place in Los Angeles on July 16 and celebrate the best athletes and sporting events of the previous year.
Gillis, 37, is the creator and star of the Netflix series Tires and one of the country’s most popular touring comics. Alongside fellow comic Matt McCusker, he broadcasts the Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast.
In a statement, Gillis said, “I’m thrilled to be at the ESPYS this year.” This should be enjoyable because I enjoy sports.
The V Foundation for Cancer Research is a foundation that was established by ESPN and the late basketball coach Jim Valvano at the inaugural ESPYS ceremony in 1993.
