Disgraced prosecutor Rachael Rollins rolls over for Turtleboy’s Karen Read coverage

Aidan Kearney, a journalist for Turtleboy, claims he didn’t expect a thank-you note from disgraced former Massachusetts US Attorney Rachael Rollins for his coverage of the criminal case of Karen Read.

Rollins praised Kearney in a post on X shortly after the jury cleared Read of killing her partner, Boston police officer John O. Keefe.

Does anyone know or care about the KR trial, boy, without the (turtle emoji)? The post was written by Rollins. This case was blown wide open by his unrelenting reporting despite being repeatedly assured by law enforcement that he was mistaken and that there was nothing to see.

The former federal prosecutor and district attorney for Suffolk County emphasized that it should not be overlooked in all of the reporting.

Most of Read’s fans claim that they became interested in the issue because of Kearney’s coverage. In April 2023, when Rollins was still the US Attorney for Massachusetts, Turtleboy started his Canton Coverup series.

In response to Rollins’ support earlier this week, Kearney said he was taken aback by her tweet.

Rachael Rollins publicly thanked me for my unrelenting reporting, which I can’t believe I’m only now seeing (and didn’t have on my bingo card), Kearney wrote in an X post on Monday. At least she has the grace to set aside our disagreements and say this, even though I have criticized her a lot over the years (to the point that she blocked me and I am unable to RT this).

Being charged with 16 counts of witness intimidation in the case, Kearney was a well-known spokesperson for the Free Karen Read movement.

Six of the 16 counts were dropped by a Norfolk Superior judge last month.

After being scolded in two federal reports that said she had abused her authority, Rollins resigned as the state’s top prosecutor in May 2023. The investigations began after Rollins broke the Hatch Act by going to a DNC fundraiser in Andover, where former First Lady Jill Biden was the main speaker.

Additionally, the Department of Justice discovered that Rollins attempted to sway the outcome of the DA’s campaign in favor of his opponent, former Boston City Councilor Ricardo Arroyo, by disclosing confidential information about now-Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden to the media.

Rollins recovered and is currently employed at Roxbury Community College, where he earns six figures. Her yearly compensation as a program executive director is $109,852.
