The public transportation organization said on Monday that it will once again provide free transportation to those who attend the Fourth of July fireworks.
On July 4, the T will provide fare-free transportation for all RIDE, Commuter Rail, boat, bus, and subway excursions after 8:30 p.m.
Independence Day is a time to commemorate our country’s history, and Phil Eng, general manager of the MBTA, stated that riding the T on Friday is a terrific opportunity to enjoy yourself without having to worry about returning home.
Leave the driving to us whether you’re going to a barbecue, a party, or another celebration, such as Harborfest, the Boston Pops, or the fireworks show over Boston Harbor. “Take the T,” said Eng.
A million people visit the city every year for the city’s annual fireworks show and other Independence Day events, according to the MBTA.
The T has scheduled extra service through the end of the day, while the MBTA’s subway lines will run on a modified Saturday schedule until 3 p.m. on Friday. The Silver Line, bus, and RIDE lines will all operate on Sundays. On weekends, the Commuter Rail will operate, and $10 holiday passes that allow unrestricted transit between zones are available.
Although most of the evening’s last trains will depart North Station and South Station at their scheduled times between 11:30 PM and midnight, the transit agency wants to remind commuter rail passengers that trains may depart up to 30 minutes after the fireworks end if they are delayed.
