In honor of the sweet frozen dessert enjoyed by many, especially during the summer, local and chain businesses are offering deals for National Ice Cream Day to satisfy those cravings.
The unofficial holiday is always on the third Sunday in July which is National Ice Cream Month, according to the
National Day Calendar.
This year, National Ice Cream Day is held on Sunday, July 20.
Here’s where ice cream lovers can partake in the celebration.
The popular ice cream and diner-style destination will be offering a free ice cream cone or dish to guests who join the
Friendly’s
Fan Club Rewards program on the day.
Those who aren’t members can purchase a single scoop of ice cream in a cone or dish for $0.90.
This deal is in honor of both National Ice Cream Day and Friendly’s 90th anniversary.
The supermarket chain will give away free 1.5-quart containers of Stop & Shop brand ice cream to customers who check in at its in-store Savings Station kiosks from now through July 20, while supplies last.
Customers who check in at the kiosk at any of its 360 locations during this time will receive a digital coupon in their Stop & Shop GO Rewards account for the free dessert from the freezer aisle — no purchase necessary, according to the company’s statement.
The offer includes all 15 available store brand flavors, including Vanilla, vanilla bean, French vanilla, vanilla fudge, cookies & cream, strawberry, moose tracks, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, coffee, chocolate chip, Neapolitan, light vanilla, light chocolate and light cookies & cream.
On July 20,
Dunkin’
will offer three times the points on frozen beverages, which can be claimed through their rewards program.
Royal Perks members can enjoy a free soft-serve ice cream on July 20 with a purchase of $1 or more at Burger King.
Customers who visit

can enjoy a second single scoop 50% off after buying one 4-ounce single scoop.
Customers can also receive $5 off with any cake purchase of $35 or more.
DoorDash is offering $5 off two
Ben & Jerry’s
pints on grocery and convenience store orders from now until July 23 for National Ice Cream Day.
Dogs can also join in on the fun when their owners bring their pup to

for “free doggie ice cream,” which is safe for them to eat.
Ice cream shops across Massachusetts are also partaking in the celebration.
Lulu Green
— The Boston plant-based restaurant is offering free scoops from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, and a free mini FoMu sundae throughout dinner service. Lulu Green is located at 246 W Broadway and is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays
Pizzi Farm
— In honor of National Ice Cream Day and to support the community, Pizzi Farm in Waltham, located at 495 Lincoln St., will host an event from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday at their shop.
The event aims to collect school supplies for the Salvation Army’s “Tools for Schools” program and will feature giveaways and live music.
Cousins Maine Lobster
Truck will also be at the site.
The first 100 people to bring school supplies to Pizzi Farm will get a free ice cream.
Foleys Ice Cream Shoppe
— On July 20, Foleys in Braintree will be serving a “special sundae” and a T-shirt giveaway. The business is located at 132 Hancock St.
Hager’s Farm Market
— Hager’s, located at 1232 Mohawk Trail in Shelburne Falls, will be serving up a limited-time maple donut sundae on Saturday, July 19, through Sunday.
The $8.25 sundae will feature maple soft serve ice cream topped with the market’s homemade maple syrup, maple sugar, cake donut pieces and whipped cream.
