The Patriots’ new No. 1 receiver has been cleared for full participation at training camp after tearing his ACL last October, per multiple reports. The Athletic reports Diggs will have his workload “monitored” early in camp, while the team ramps him up from a limited spring.

Diggs, 31, signed a three-year, $63.5 million contract in free agency with just $22.6 million guaranteed. He has been ahead of schedule with his recovery and is now expected to be Drake Maye’s top target, while the Patriots look to make a leap in Maye’s second season. Diggs is by far the most proven receiver on the roster, owning more career receiving yards than the rest of the team’s wideouts combined. He also has four Pro Bowl nods and one All-Pro honor.

With players reporting to the facility on Tuesday, the Patriots will run their first training camp practice Wednesday outside Gillette Stadium. The team will hold four straight non-padded practices, before league rules permit them to hold a padded practice as soon as Monday, July 28.

It’s unclear what level of participation Diggs will have over his first week of training camp.
