Patriots young defender excited to play with ‘violence’ in new defense

FOXBORO For defensive end Keion White, the move from the Patriots’ traditional defense to Mike Vrabel and Terrell Williams’ new scheme is a welcome one.

It is anticipated that the new defense would be more combative and aggressive. Instead of just sitting back, reading, and responding, the defensive line will be given more opportunities to move up field.

“It’s always my style to lead with violence,” White, a 2023 second-round choice, stated on Friday. So, it’s absolutely helpful for me whenever I can do that and cut back on reading.

Following Bill Belichick, Jerod Mayo, and Vrabel, White, who led the Patriots with five sacks the previous season, will be playing for his third head coach in three years. White claimed last month that he felt like he had a coach now after feeling like he was training alone the previous season.

On Friday, White was questioned about Vrabel.

Whether we win or lose is my biggest working relationship, so that’s important to me, White stated. You simply proceed from there. How can he improve me, and is he a good coach? And my largest relationship is that one. The rest of it will work itself out.

White was questioned further about his thoughts on Vrabel.

He is, in my opinion, a fairly competent coach.

Why?

because he aids in my recovery.
