Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, were brutally killed while hiking in Devil’s Den State Park in front of their two young daughters, sparking a manhunt across Arkansas. The neighborhood is in shock by the incident, and concerns have been raised regarding park safety.
The Tragic Incident
The Brink family was assaulted on July 21 at 2:30 p.m. while hiking in the popular but secluded park in the Ozark area, according to The New York Post.
There have been concerns raised regarding the authorities’ tardy response after they answered emergency calls regarding screaming and a potential assault but did not release a public alert regarding the killings until 8:40 p.m.
The two little girls, ages 7 and 9, belonging to the family were found close by, physically unharmed but understandably shocked by seeing the heinous event.
According to the Arkansas State Police, their reaction time was greatly slowed down by the park’s dense vegetation, lack of cell coverage, and isolated location. According to an Arkansas State Police spokesperson, “it took time for our special agents to come on scene, find witnesses, conduct interviews, and collaborate information so we released the appropriate information.”
Description of the Suspect
Authorities published an updated description of the suspect by Sunday. The murderer is thought to be a medium-built male who was last seen sporting sunglasses, fingerless gloves, a red baseball cap, dark slacks, and a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves pulled up.
In addition, he was seen driving a black four-door sedan—possibly a Mazda—with a license plate taped over when he arrived at the park with a rucksack.
To further the investigation, authorities are asking the public to share any information they may have about this suspect.

The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism has declared that it would be stepping up law enforcement presence at parks throughout the state in response to the brutal incident.
