On Monday, the Patriots made two moves that essentially included switching defensive tackles.
New England cut rookie Bryce Ganious and added veteran Kyle Peko. Ganious, 21, received an invitation to the Patriots’ rookie minicamp in the spring. He was a free agent who was not selected.
Ganious was signed by the Patriots last week.
Mike Vrabel, who coached the veteran during two spells with the Tennessee Titans in 2021 and 2023, is reunited with Peko through his deal.
Before making appearances with the Buffalo Bills, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, and Detroit Lions, he previously spent two seasons with the Denver Broncos. Peko has recorded 58 total tackles, two sacks, two passes defended, and one forced fumble in 47 games (14 starts).
His 2024 season ended prematurely due to a torn pectoral muscle sustained in Week 6. He was an underappreciated member of the Lions defense before to the injury. Peko recorded two tackles, one tackle for loss, and two quarterback hits in five games.
Peko joined the Broncos as an undrafted free agent when he first joined the NFL.
