Revs Preview: New England needs to hold off LAFC and Son Heung-Min at home

The margins for the New England Revolution are getting smaller every week.

Last week’s 2-0 victory over D.C. United gave the Revs their first victory after nine games without one. That one win needs to swiftly become a long run for New England if the team is to return to the postseason picture.

The Revs are now eight points behind the Fire for the last Eastern Conference wild card berth after Chicago tied with LAFC on Saturday. Red Bull, who are now in 10th place in the Eastern Conference and tied with Chicago with 36 points, is regrettably positioned between them.

Coach Caleb Porter is aware that his squad must put the recent losing skid far behind them because of everything that will be at stake over the next two months.

Now that he is in eleventh place, Porter knows that victories must begin to accumulate.

According to Porter, it doesn’t really matter what happened in the past, so it’s put up or shut up. We may discuss it endlessly, but nobody is interested, and to be honest, neither are we.

We must now go and finish it, even though we acknowledge and own it. It’s that easy; we already know what will happen if we don’t finish it.

Now that Son Heung-Min has joined LAFC, blocking the Revs’ path is a formidable task. The clubs will get together on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Gillette Stadium.

LAFC has a 4-2-2 record in its previous eight games and is presently ranked fifth in the West. Even while Son is currently the team’s most well-known player, he is by no means the only danger.

Denis Bouanga has 14 goals and seven assists for the team so far this season.

“They will beat most teams in the league nine out of ten times because if you let Bouanga and Son get going, they have three or four other guys on their team that I can name. If you let them get going and running at you, give them a lot of time and space, and they’ll tear you apart,” Porter said. We’re not taking the game seriously, let me be clear.

We are confident in our ability to win, but we are also aware of our responsibilities. Our piece will not have any naivete, and I believe that’s crucial.

Ignatius Ganago, a forward for New England, has returned after missing the previous two months due to a leg injury. His absence was the reason behind the team’s losing run.

The Revs are 7-4-5 this season with Ganago playing.

Porter claimed that while Ganago was playing, we were winning. Given that he is a really well-rounded player, I don’t think it’s a coincidence. He is an honest player, which is crucial in this league once more.

He is incredibly humble, a team player, and a defender. skilled with the ball, able to play in the pockets, go one-on-one, and score crosses. I would say that he had four or five goals that were called back, but you would say that the finishing is the one thing you wish to see a bit more of.

It was tough for Ganago to see his colleagues struggle from the sidelines, but he claimed it also made him even more determined to return to the field and do whatever it took to help the team win again.

According to Ganago, the past two months have been extremely difficult for him. I knew I would be out for a long period, so it was a really tough moment.

I simply thought to myself, “All right, I’m out now, so I have to do everything I can to return and return even stronger than before.” I’m thrilled to be back since I’ve trained and worked hard.

“The support from everyone in the organization has helped keep my spirits high throughout my recovery and my time with the club overall,” Ganago stated. He has remained dedicated to winning and helping the club in whatever way he can because of the team spirit and unwavering support.

According to Ganago, there are moments when you feel compelled to return something that everyone wants you to be there. That’s how I approach the game, personally. I am aware that everyone wants to win and advance to the playoffs. My only goal is to win.

I still want the team to win even if I don’t score. In order to win the game, I will run back and defend like I’ve never done before.

Ganago and Bouanga played each other in France prior to their arrival in MLS. Ganago witnessed firsthand the French forward’s potential for danger.

As is often the case with Porter’s team, though, the focus has stayed equally on the impending opponent and inward.

According to Ganago, we are concentrating on ourselves. We are aware of their talented players. Of course, they had Son and Bouanga. They do have talented players, but these are major tournaments. Big teams, big games.

To win the game, we must battle them and give it our all. Our goal is to qualify for the playoffs. We must give it our all when playing against teams like these.

New England should have strong momentum going into their rematch with the Columbus Crew on August 23 in Ohio if they can defeat LAFC and earn some points. The Revs will then return home on August 30 to play Charlotte.
