Micah Parsons defends sideline behavior amid contract dispute with Cowboys

During Dallas’ preseason finale against the Atlanta Falcons on Friday, Micah Parsons’ contract issue with the Cowboys hit a new level.

During the game, the standout linebacker was spotted resting on a medical table without a jersey.

After WFAA’s Mike Leslie noted that the top pass-rusher wasn’t lying down for the entire game, Parsons took to social media on Saturday to defend himself.

“Everyone would have just run with it if he hadn’t said anything, and the way the media shapes perception and narratives is crazy,” Parsons wrote on X. I would never treat the men who are battling for their life with disrespect.

Following the Cowboys’ 31–13 victory against Atlanta, questions concerning the behavior were posed to coach Brian Schottenheimer.

He told reporters, “I don’t know any of that stuff because I was calling the game.”After seeing the movie and speaking with all those involved, we will have a thorough evaluation of our performance on and off the field.

On a conference call the next day, Schottenheimer stated that he wanted to understand what he was doing and why. “Everything will be handled internally,” he stressed.

Earlier this month, Parsons said he no longer wanted to be with the Cowboys and asked to be traded out of Dallas. The final year of the 26-year-old’s deal is about to begin.

Hours after Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that Parsons might look to move, the announcement was made. One major problem was that Parsons and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had direct communications during the summer, but Parsons wanted his agent to handle all contract negotiations, so he thought the conversations were merely conversations.

Jones acknowledged over the summer that he was unable to remember Parsons’ name when speaking with his agent, David Mulugheta. That attracted Parsons’ attention.

The Cowboys selected Parsons with the 12th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. With 52.5 sacks in his first four seasons, he immediately established himself as a force for Dallas. In addition to being a two-time First-Team All-Pro, the 26-year-old has been selected a Pro Bowler in each of his four seasons.

Schottenheimer thinks the linebacker will play in Week 1 despite everything that has happened with Parsons.
