Colorado’s Boulder In 2025, Deion Sanders has already won one battle. On Monday, the football coach for the Colorado University Buffaloes declared that he had overcome bladder cancer.
On Monday, the CU Buffs coach spoke about his health at the CU Touchdown Club, which is next to Folsom Field. Lauren Askevold, CU’s associate athletic trainer, and Dr. Janet Kukreja, director of Urologic Oncology at CU Cancer Center, sat at the table with him.
During a medical examination this past spring, Sanders was found to have an aggressive malignant growth in his bladder.
His bladder was removed from the coach. According to Kukreja, he no longer has cancer.

She answered, “It’s beaten.”
Sanders, 57, has experience coaching people through health issues. In 2021, the Pro Football Hall of Famer missed three Jackson State games. He has previously struggled with blood clots, and in 2023, he underwent surgery to remove a clot in his right leg.
According to Askevold, the operation was finished by the beginning of May after the tumor was discovered during CU’s spring football workouts this past April.
Due to the CU coach’s conspicuous absence from June camps in Boulder, there were numerous rumors that Sanders was still battling an undisclosed health condition that would prevent him from attending classes.
Asante Samuel was informed by the Floridian that he had lately shed fourteen pounds. Sanders claimed to have lost roughly twenty-five pounds on Monday.
