Gillian Anderson appears to be mystery lover in famed restaurateur’s book

Renowned New York City chef Keith McNally discloses in his best-selling new biography that he had a passionate romance with a well-known Hollywood actress in the late 1990s. However, throughout his pages, he merely calls her X.

After doing some research, Page Six revealed on Tuesday that X seems to be Gillian Anderson, who gained notoriety for her role as FBI agent Dana Scully in The X Files.

The New York Post gossip page drew this conclusion from some of the allusions to the tryst’s time, place, and circumstances that McNally made in his book I Regret Almost Everything. Additionally, according to Page Six, McNally, the proprietor of the celebrity hangout Balthazar, already acknowledged in public that he had a brief affair with Anderson. However, he is eager to omit her name from his memoir for some reason.

According to McNally, he first got to know X after he appeared in Vanity Fair in 1998. The plot focused on the incredibly attractive British-born actor-turned-restaurant owner who established some of the most famous eating and social venues of the time, such as Nell’s, Cafe Luxembourg, and his must-see brasserie, Balthazar.

According to Page Six, McNally wrote that X contacted him through a mutual buddy. Despite the fact that X was currently the star of a TV program that millions of people watched, he said he had no idea who she was.

Beginning in 1993, Anderson costarred with David Duchovny in the Fox sci-fi drama series The X-Files. By following the exploits of Anderson’s Scully and Duchovny’s Fox Mulder, who are FBI agents looking into top-secret encounters with extraterrestrial life and the paranormal, The X-Files quickly developed a cult following.

According to Page Six, McNally claimed that he initially spoke with the Los Angeles-based X over the phone. Then, X stunned him by choosing to stay in his SOHO walk-up instead of a hotel when she said she would come see him in New York.

They saw the Broadway production of Art during their stay, which takes place at any time between February 12, 1998, and August 8, 1999. In his book, McNally also said that a picture of them was published in the local press. In a Daily News gossip column, the Page Six writer discovered a picture of McNally and Anderson together. The article detailed how X-Files actress Gillian Anderson enjoyed a comfortable supper with British restaurateur Keith McNally on Saturday.

Where did they eat? The column went on. Where else but Balthazar, McNally’s still-white-hot celebrity? The attractive redhead is merely a friend, according to McNally, who drove her to her hotel after dinner. If something was going on, we would have really gone out of our way.

According to Page Six, McNally was in a sporadic relationship with his future wife, Alina Johnson, at the time, so he attempted to minimize any connection with Anderson. According to McNally’s book, Johnson was incensed when he saw a picture of him with X in a gossip column. McNally further disclosed that Johnson had once requested that he bar Anderson from his eateries.

On the first night X was in New York, McNally wrote, he and Anderson did not have sex.

He writes, “I assumed that the relationship would end after we spent the night together without having sex.” Nobody ever told me that not having sex is the biggest turn-on for women.

McNally wrote that he took X to his Balthazar for dinner the following evening. After that, they visited his flat.

Taking her to a restaurant you own is one of the best ways to wow a date, according to McNally. Ten minutes after arriving home, I found myself lying next to X’s nude body.

However, despite having an intimate relationship with this well-known and attractive Hollywood celebrity, McNally claimed that the liaison only made him miss Johnson more. He broke up with X, who wasn’t happy about the news, and he and Johnson later got back together.

According to Page Six, McNally wrote, “I called (X) a day after she left New York and told her straight out that even though I really liked her, I wanted our relationship to be just platonic.” She yelled (Expletive) off! and hung up the phone without skipping a beat.
