The New England Patriots’ training camp underdog has been Efton Chism III. However, one outstanding play might have put a stop to any discussion about whether he would make the squad this year.
Before halftime in Saturday’s preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, Chism, an undrafted rookie wide receiver from Eastern Washington, displayed amazing effort and elusiveness with a 12-yard catch and run for a touchdown.The play is available for viewing here.
Patriots broadcaster and former quarterback favorite Scott Zolak stated, “He’s dead at the six, makes four guys miss, squeezes through two.”
During the play, Chism was targeted by six different Vikings defenders. However, the undrafted youngster missed them all, so Zolak had to speak up.

Jason and Devin McCourty, two former Patriots champions, were also in the booth and expressed their admiration for the play.
