Sabalenka required three sets to advance for the first time in the competition. Anisimova lost to Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the quarterfinals, 6-1, 7-6 (11–9), despite needing to play three sets in the third and fourth rounds.
On Wednesday, No. 8 Iga Swiatek defeated No. 19 Liudmila Samsonova 6-2, 7-5 to go to the other semifinal, while Belinda Bencic defeated No. 7 Mirra Andreeva 7-6(7-3), 7-6(7-2).
