Lucas: AOC and Zohran Mamdani are now the leaders of the Democratic Party

Published On:

Suddenly, they are the national political equivalent of Bogie and Bacall.

The Democratic Party has been taken aback by their abundance.

They might wind up in Gracie Mansion, even if they might not be going to Key Largo like famous Hollywood stars Lauren Bacall and Humphrey Bogart.

The Republicans adore Bogie & Bacall’s performance of New York.

Not so much for Democrats.

However, if elected, the left-wing crazies might become New York’s Bonnie & Clyde rather than Bogie & Bacall, which could be even worse for Democrats.

New York Mayor Eric Adams, who defected from the Democratic Party to run as an Independent for reelection, currently occupies Gracie Mansion.

The radical socialist Zohran Mamdani, 33, the new Democratic candidate for mayor of New York, who is portraying Bogie in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Bacall, may now take Adams’ position.

AOC provided the energy and magic to make Mamdani a political star, just as Bacall did by providing mystery and magic to help make Bogart a movie star.

Despite the fact that AOC, 35, is unmarried and Mamdani is married, the two ran as if they were meant to be. It was successful.

They stunned the normal left-wing Democratic Party elite as well as former Governor Andrew Cuomo, who ran his campaign as if the election were a routine.

AOC and Mamdani shone brightly. Mamdani was driven over the edge by her physical campaign contribution and support. Without her, he most likely would not have been able to win the primary.

With a passionate and active campaign that garnered the support of young people, they easily outperformed Cuomo and everyone else.

These voters appeared to be unaware that, should his campaign pledges come to pass, the nation’s largest metropolis would become Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, or even Kampala, Uganda, the birthplace of Mamdani.

Mamdani, who has a negative opinion of Jews, to put it mildly, would be the first Muslim mayor of New York, which has the largest Jewish population in the nation, if elected.

In his capacity as mayor, Mamdani has vowed to detain Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should he venture to New York. (Perhaps Netanyahu would promise to detain Mamdani if he traveled to Tel Aviv to surf.)

Mamdani and his parents arrived in the United States when he was seven years old, and in 2018, he obtained U.S. citizenship. The younger Mamdani took part in anti-Israeli demonstrations at Columbia, where his father, Mahmood, is an anti-Israel, pro-Hamas professor.

The fact that Mamdani has a successful relationship with cameras of all sizes and types is likely due to the fact that his mother, Mira Nair, is a filmmaker.

He and AOC were actually treated like movie stars in a Hollywood script because of their joint campaign. The foolishness they advocated, such as government grocery shops and higher taxes for white people, was irrelevant because they were so wonderful on stage. It simply sounded and looked wonderful. There was a sense about them.

AOC has a decent chance of becoming a U.S. senator, and Mamdani has a good chance of becoming mayor, despite all the socialist jargon they spout.

Since Cuomo and Mayor Eric Adams are both running as independents and are certain to split the vote, Mamdani will be the only Democrat in the final election. Republican Curtis Silwa, the seasoned founder of the Guardian Angels Foundation, is the fourth contender.

Meanwhile, seasoned New York U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is worried about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who emerged from obscurity to become a national political powerhouse.

He will be 76 years old in 2026 when he runs for reelection to the U.S. Senate, where he has been since 1999 following 18 years in the House.

AOC will turn 37 during her third term in the House.
