Your backyard swimming pool may now be included in a significant countrywide recall if you have one, especially if you purchased it within the last 20 years. Families in Texas and throughout the US are being impacted by this recall in the wake of fatal child drownings that were connected to pool design.
Over the previous 15 years, nine children have tragically died as a result of a major safety danger with the pools’ structure, which the recall attempts to solve.
Let’s examine what is being recalled, why it is occurring, and how to determine whether your pool is impacted.
Why Are These Pools Being Recalled?
USA Today reports that millions of above-ground swimming pools sold under well-known brand names like Coleman, Bestway, Intex, and Polygroup have been recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Compression straps that encircle the outside of the pool are the problem. Small children could inadvertently gain a footing on these straps, climbing into the pool and possibly drowning.
Nine toddlers under the age of three are reported to have drowned after getting entry to the pool in this manner between 2007 and 2022.
Which Pools Are Included in the Recall?
These pools, which range in price from $400 to $1,000+, were offered for sale at major retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Costco.

What Should Pool Owners Do?
Do not use your pool until you receive a repair kit if it is one of the recalled models.
For a free repair kit that resolves the problem, get in touch with your pool’s manufacturer (Bestway, Coleman, Intex, or Polygroup). The purpose of these kits is to increase children’s pool safety by removing the dangerous foothold.
For comprehensive details on how to proceed with the recall procedure, you can either visit the brand’s website or the official CPSC website.
