Sumera Rajput was found dead in her house in the Ghotki district of Sindh’s Bago Wah neighborhood. Since there were no overt indications of harm or struggle at the time of her death, it was unclear what caused it.
Her 15-year-old daughter and brother, however, made a grave accusation shortly after the heartbreaking news was publicized. They claimed to have told authorities that Sumera’s death was caused by being made to consume poisoned pills.
Forced Marriage Pressure Linked to Suspected Poisoning
According to Geo News, Sumera’s daughter thinks her mother was coerced into a forced marriage for years. She alleges that the individuals who exerted that pressure eventually poisoned her in order to put a stop to her resistance.
This charge was corroborated by Sumera’s brother, who told police that he too thought she was murdered.
Two people have been taken into custody and are currently being questioned by law enforcement. Authorities have not yet addressed the family’s claims or formally confirmed the cause of death, though. The results of the autopsy, which has been ordered, are still pending.

Sana Yousaf, a 17-year-old TikTok celebrity, was shot and died in Islamabad just last month. Umar Hayat, a 22-year-old man she had repeatedly rejected, is said to have killed her.
Hayat went into her house, shot her twice, took her phone, and then ran away, according to the police. After being taken into custody, he subsequently admitted to the crime.
These occurrences have brought attention to a concerning pattern and sparked debate about how safe it is for young women in the nation to be active and visible on social media.
