He hasn’t been seen much since.

Before going two and a half weeks without using pads, Davis took part in the team’s first training camp session after missing the most of the spring’s optional Organized Team Activities. Davis has now taken part in three consecutive practices, including the Vikings’ joint session on Wednesday. The 28-year-old acknowledged the Patriots had been slowing down his recuperation in his post-injury remarks, but he did not reveal his injury.

Davis stated, “I’m definitely dealing with something, but I’m still ready to play right now.” For example, I would be playing if it were Week 1 regardless of what else was happening. Therefore, we’re just being smart about it and simply following the steps and making progress.

Davis, who signed a three-year, $54 million contract in free agency, is anticipated to team up with Christian Gonzalez, another injured CB, to form one of the NFL’s best cornerback tandems. Gonzalez hasn’t been able to train since he injured his left leg two weeks ago, but it doesn’t seem like a significant injury. Davis, meanwhile, stated on Wednesday that he is confident he will play in the team’s September 7 season opener.

I’m going to keep increasing the intensity and getting more reps. Because it is impossible to finish Week 1 without having completed any repetitions to be in shape and simply be in that football shape.

After spending six seasons in Tampa Bay, where he won a Super Bowl, Davis moved to Detroit last year to begin his career.
