Patriots sign two ex-Titans in series of roster moves

FOXBORO In order to add depth to their roster before their preseason finale against the Giants on Thursday night, the Patriots added two rookies on Tuesday.

Philip Blidi, a defensive tackle, and Micah Bernard, a running back, were added by the Patriots. In the spring, both rookies joined the Titans to start their NFL careers. Blidi was waived on August 17 while Bernard was cut on June 2.

The Patriots cut defensive end Jereme Robinson, who signed on August 10, and cornerback Tre Avery, another former Titan, to create space.

Additionally, Avery’s stay in New England was brief. On August 5, the 49ers claimed him off waivers.

With Terrell Jennings out and Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson, and TreVeyon Henderson unlikely to see any action on Thursday night, the Patriots needed depth at running back. Bernard is one of the available Patriost running backs, along with Shane Watts and JaMycal Hasty.

This week, defensive tackle Isaiah Iton was placed on injured reserve by the Patriots. On the defensive tackle depth chart, Blidi is joined by Christian Barmore, Joshua Farmer, David Olajiga, Kyle Peko, Jeremiah Pharms, Jahvaree Ritzie, Khyiris Tonga, and Milton Williams.
