Red Sox lineup: Abraham Toro batting cleanup in first game since deadline

Published On:

The lineup will be a little different than usual when the Red Sox take the field tonight for the first time since the MLB trade deadline on Thursday night.

When the Red Sox begin their weekend series against the Houston Astros, Abraham Toro will be batting cleanup, batting ahead of Trevor Story, Masataka Yoshida, Carlos Narvaez, and Wilyer Abreu, as well as ahead of Roman Anthony, Alex Bregman, and Jarren Duran.

Toro has a season-long batting average of.264 and an OPS of.719, but he has only hit.212 in his last 33 games. His ability to switch hits is probably what keeps him in the middle of the lineup, and it might be useful when facing the Astros, who have one of the best bullpens in baseball.

Boston’s Cooper Criswell (1-0, 5.06) is expected to start. He will play Hunter Brown of Houston (9-5, 2.54).

The game on Friday night will only be available on Apple TV+; neither NESN nor any other standard television network will carry it. You may find more details about how to watch here.
