Boston When Boston takes on future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw (4-1, 3.27 ERA) on Saturday, lefty masher Romy Gonzalez will start at second base and bat cleanup.
The second game of the Dodgers and Red Sox’s three-game series will air on FOX at 7:15 p.m.
Two of the best left-handed pitchers in the game will square off. Kershaw will be the starting pitcher facing Red Sox star Garrett Crochet (11-4, 2.19 ERA).
In Friday’s series opener, the Dodgers prevailed 5-2. Boston has scored two runs or fewer in each of its five losses, and they are 2-5 in the second half. In six of the seven games, it has also fallen behind first.
With Marcelo Mayer (wrist sprain) on the injured list, Ceddanne Rafaela is anticipated to play second base more often.Rafaela returned to center field for Saturday’s game after starting at second base on Friday.
The lineup does not include Wilyer Abreu.Right field will be played by Roman Anthony.
As the DH, Rob Refsnyder will take the lead. Jarren Duran, a left fielder, is hitting seventh.
