for the second year in a row, New England Revolution midfielder and captain Carles Gil was added to the MLS All-Star team.

On the season, Gil leads the Revs in both goals (eight) and assists (seven) while starting all 21 league matches.

The decision to add the midfielder was made by the All-Star team’s coach for this year Nico Estévez who added five other players to the roster.

The other additions are midfielders Christian Espsinoza, Hany Mukhtar, and Obed Vargas, and forwards Marco Pašalić, and Sam Surridge.

Gil’s nod gives the Revs their

first All-Star since 2023

, when Gil and then goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović both made the roster.

The All-Star game, which takes place on July 23 in Austin against the LIGA MX All-Stars, will be the fourth for Gil.

The 32-year-old Spaniard previously made three straight All-Star teams from 2021 to 2023. He is one of just four New England players now to make at least four All-Star teams.

Shalrie Jospeh made eight, Taylor Twellman made five, and Matt Reis made four for the Revs.

Over his seven seasons with the club, Gil has tallied historic figures. In 2021 he was named league MVP, tallying 18 assists as the Revs won their first Supporters’ Shield in club history.

This season, Gil became the all-time assist leader in club history, grabbing his 80th. The midfielder is also just three goal contributions away from surpassing Twellman’s 129 for most in club history.

Gil and the Revs continue their season Wednesday night as they travel to face New York Red Bulls.
