The Shreveport Police Department is working harder to take guns away from people who aren’t allowed to have them. Their continuous goal to improve community safety by lowering the quantity of unlawfully owned firearms in the region includes this project.
Arrest of Dave Benard: Stolen Firearm and Felonious Possession
Dave Benard, born on January 29, 1989, was contacted by Shreveport police on August 11 as part of a normal inquiry. Authorities found that Benard had a stolen handgun in his possession after conducting additional investigation.
A more thorough investigation of his past showed that he is a convicted felon who is not allowed to own a handgun because of a prior conviction for armed robbery and many prior convictions for felon in possession of a firearm. He was arrested as a result of breaking the law on the ownership of firearms.
Arrests for Illegal Gun and Drug Possession
On August 12, a day later, the Violent Crimes Abatement Team carried out another operation that resulted in two more arrests.
Officers discovered that Jordan Berg was in possession of both drugs and a handgun, leading to his arrest. He is currently being charged with both illegally possessing a weapon and illegally possessing drugs.
Harley Kubit was apprehended in the same operation after being discovered in possession of drugs and a pistol. Kubit is accused with possessing drugs with the intent to distribute them and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

The Shreveport Police Department stressed in a statement their dedication to get unlawful firearms off the streets and prosecuting lawbreakers. By tackling drug possession and illicit firearms in the neighborhood, the department is demonstrating its continued commitment to public safety.
