Ticker: Wegovy and Zepbound prices fall; ExxonMobil and partner Qatar Energy find new natural gas deposit off Cyprus

Wegovy and Zepbound, two well-known medicines for obesity, are becoming less expensive, but consistent availability to the medications is still difficult.

Many patients cannot afford the drugs, which still cost about $500 a month for those without insurance. Additionally, coverage is still inconsistent even for those who have insurance.

Matt Maciejewski, a professor at Duke University who specializes in obesity treatment coverage, stated that while the drugs should be accessible, the concern is how much they will cost and whether patients can afford them.

Though there is hope that costs may decrease further in the future, doctors say the current situation encourages them to be innovative in how they treat patients.

A second natural gas discovery beneath the seabed south of Cyprus has been made by a consortium consisting of ExxonMobil and partner Qatar Energy International, the government announced Monday. This discovery enhances the region’s potential as an energy exporter.

By diversifying its energy supply and supporting a developing energy partnership between Cyprus, Greece, and Israel, new natural gas discoveries in the eastern Mediterranean could help Europe reduce its reliance on Russian hydrocarbons, according to John Sitilides, a geopolitical strategist at Trilogy Advisors in Washington and a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute.

The well was found at a depth of 6,302 feet, approximately 118 miles southwest of Cyprus.
