Atlanta (AP) According to President Donald Trump, he will attend the first round of the intense Ryder Cup in New York next month and believes that U.S. captain Keegan Bradley ought to participate.
Trump shared something on his social media page.On Friday, September 26, he would be present on Saturday night for the opening of the three-day U.S.-European matchups. He claimed that the PGA Tour, which does not oversee the competition, sent him the invitation.
An Associated Press message asking for comment was not immediately answered by a PGA of America representative.
This Ryder Cup, which is already the most boisterous golf event, is more anticipated than usual since it will take place at the Black course at Bethpage State Park on Long Island, New York, a public course known for its rowdiest patrons.
It was anticipated that Trump will be present at some time during the Ryder Cup, given his love of golf. Earlier this year, he met with Tiger Woods and PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan in an unsuccessful attempt to bridge the gap caused by the breakaway, Saudi-funded LIV Golf. For the first time in almost ten years, the PGA Tour said this week that it will return to Trump National Doral in Florida the next year.
Bradley’s debate over becoming the first captain to compete in the Ryder Cup since Arnold Palmer in 1963 adds a twist to the competition.
Since Palmer was 34, Bradley, 39, has been the youngest American captain. There has been significant discussion about whether he should play and continue to serve as captain, and Bradley’s two victories in the past year have just increased the intrigue.
A few hours before Trump’s post on Truth Social, he shot 63 on Saturday to move into fourth place and increase his chances of winning the FedEx Cup, which is the final tournament of the season.
Without a doubt, Keegan Bradley ought to serve as captain of the American Ryder Cup squad! He is a truly remarkable individual. Trump wrote that the Ryder Cup would be fantastic.
Trump is friendly with a number of well-known golfers and was present at the February Super Bowl and, most recently, the FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey. The only golfer Trump selected to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition is Bryson DeChambeau, who qualified for the U.S. team and has played golf with Trump.
When he makes his six captain’s selections on Wednesday, Bradley will make a choice regarding his participation.
