Why USPS Is Closing
A national holiday honoring the contributions of American workers is called Labor Day. The USPS honors the day by suspending all operations, as it does on other federal holidays. As a result, post office counters will be closed and no mail or shipments will be delivered.
Similar delays were experienced by USPS customers on Memorial Day earlier this year, when even basic services like purchasing stamps at offices were not available.
How to Prepare for the USPS Shutdown
You should schedule your activities around the shutdown if you have crucial mail or parcels to send. To prevent delays, USPS advises consumers to mail their purchases in advance. Mail sent too near the holiday will begin processing the following working day.
Rent or mortgage payments may also be impacted by this one-day stoppage. On the other hand, if payments are received before September 2, they will not be regarded as late.
What About FedEx and Other Couriers?
There are other delivery services impacted besides USPS. Additionally, FedEx has disclosed adjustments to its Labor Day operations:
FedExFreight is going to shut down.
Customers are advised to check with their local FedEx office as they will continue to operate, but with altered hours.
FedExCustom Critical will continue to function normally.
On Labor Day, FedExLogistics will not operate.
Although UPS usually observes a shortened holiday schedule, the company has not announced any significant shutdowns.
Banks and Financial Services
Banks nationwide will also close on Labor Day, causing delays in mail and shipments. Wells Fargo, Chase, and Bank of America will all close their branches.

Deposits and transfers won’t be processed until the next business day.
Customers will still be able to deposit or withdraw money from ATMs.
Other Holiday Closures
Numerous services and retailers may also be impacted. Walmart and Kroger will continue to operate as usual, but Costco will close all of its facilities for the day.
